Problem with my mouse cursor

I don’t know how it all started, but my mouse cursor would move by itself to the right for a couple of paces every time i lift it off the pad.
the pad is clean and the lens on my mouse is clean as well.
it gets quite annoying.
It is wireless and optical.
i’ve checked on several forums, but they tend to complain about the cursor going to the top left of the screen but this isn’t the case.
it would move to the right for 3 seconds and stop if i picked up the mouse or if i held the mouse off the pad and clicked randomly, it would also move gradually to the right for a couple of seconds.
any ideas?
