Trouble Connecting To Internet Netgear wg511v2 Smart Wizard?

I’ve just given my old laptop to my sisters boyfriend because they recently got an internet connection in their household. Its still on windows xp and it uses a NETGEAR WG511v2 54Mbps wireless pc card and the smart wizard that goes along with it. I’m having issues connection to their NETGEAR Wireless-G router WGR614. I have the connection set to the router and the WEP key entered but there is a limited or no connectivity issue. Are there anyways to fix this?
also, I’m connected to their internet connection on the pc I’m using right now which I set up with no issues, although it is on windows vista and is not running through a NETGEAR program.
