Dish Network VS Direct TV?

Dish Network, DirecTV, or Comcast?

I am a long time Comcast customer and am fed up with the constant price increases. I am considering switching over to either Dish Network or Direct TV. I currently have Comcast high speed internet and a cable package that includes all their upper channels and ENCORE. I am paying $125 plus a month for this service.

So here is my question: Which is better, Comcast, Dish Network or Direct TV? My main concern is RELIABILITY during storms or extreme heat in the summer. I live in Southern Indiana. I also want internet with the new tv service. I currently run 1 DVR and 2 regular cable boxes in my home. I have 2 HD TVS and 2 regular TVS in my home and want all of them connected to the new service, with DVR for at least one of them.

Thank you for your answers in advance. Another question, do you have to have a land line for their services?

Hello to you!

Ah what a chore! Dealing with Comcast price increases and lack of Customer service, at least where I was living, is almost too much to bear. I think the worst point for me was when I told Comcast I was going to cancel my service as I’d decided to go with Dish Network. Then they told me they’d lower my cost to $1 below what I’d pay for Dish Network. Maybe it’s just me but I found it insulting. Why not just give people the best price right off the bat?

I still canceled and I’m happy I did.

I have had DirecTV and, while the satellite service was just fine, like Comcast, their customer service stunk! Maybe it was just the local office, I’m not sure, but there’s no excuse for poor customer service in my opinion.

The Satellite Guru website has a nice description on both the DirecTV and Dish Network.

My set up now is Dish Network, Clear for my high speed internet and I love it. It’s just as fast as Comcast was. I also have Vonage for my phone. I put off changing over to Vonage for several years but am absolutely happy with my choice. We have the dual phone lines. One for my kids and one for my hubby and me.  As long as I’ve had Dish Network I only remember one time where we had a satellite issue and it wasn’t because of a storm. It only lasted an hour and if I remember correctly, the picture didn’t go out, but the menu wasn’t available.

I wish I’d have changed to this set up a lot sooner because I’m saving a fortune each month with the 3 services I’ve mentioned above. But, hopefully I’ve helped you in your decision.

Love,

Sophie
